ECE - Overview

The Department of ECE was started in the year 2003 with an intake of 120 students. The intake was increased to 180 students from 2012. A Separate block is provided to develop the department as a centre of excellence. ECE Department has faculties with good experience of teaching and research background, through which they are guiding students to the path of excellence. Most of the faculty members in ECE department are either Ph.D. or pursuing Ph.D. 

Faculties of the department are untiringly committed towards student betterment and growth of the department. Collaboration with faculty members from other disciplines, both within and outside the institute, is encouraged.

Department organizes various value addition program (VAP) for student, in various areas such Embedded System (ARM, Arduino, PIC etc.), IOT(Internet of things), MATLAB etc., to get them ready for the competitive industry and employability. Different projects bases on Project Based Learning was made by students and presented Tech Expo organized at college as well as university level.

The Alumnae of all the past years are well-placed in reputed organizations like INFOSYS, HCL Technologies, HP, Citrix etc. Some of them are pursuing M.Tech, MBA and MS courses in India & abroad. The Department has established following well equipped laboratories:

Brief Profile:     

Dr. Avadhesh Kumar Sharma is having experience in both industry and teaching. He has a teaching experience of 16 years. He worked in industry about 2 years. He received his AMIETE degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Institute of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers, Delhi in 1998.

He did his M.E. degree in Signal Processing from MDU, Rohtak, Haryana in 2008 & Ph.D. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from SU,  Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan in 2015. He qualified the UGC NET in June 2013 in the subject  Electronic Science. His areas of Research interest include Biomedical Image Processing, Digital Signal Processing & Digital Communication.

He has published & presented many research papers in National and International Journals & Conferences. He conducted many FDPs , Project Exhibition, Seminars, Guest Lectures for the faculty & students. He is life member of IETE & ISTE.

He is nominated by Indian Society for Technical Education  member of the SMC of ISTE Delhi Section for the period of three years from January 2015 to December 2017. He is the advisor of ISTE Students Chapter at HMRITM. He is the recipient of the ‘ISTE Best Students Chapter award at Vellore University, Tamilnadu in September 2016.

ECE - Laboratories

STLD Lab: Switching Theory & Logic Design Lab is catering to the needs of facilities in electronics field by training its students to make valuable contribution. This lab is used by B. tech second year students of different branches like Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, Electrical & Electronics, IT, and Mechanical Department. STLD Laboratory is fully equipped with the required instruments such as C.R.O., Multimeters, signal Generator etc. to conduct experiments with digital ICs for UG students. It helps students to enhance their knowledge about various electronics equipments like shift registers, counters, adders, subtractors and seven segment display devices etc . The objective of this lab is to prepare its students with good foundation in electronics field so that they become graduate and effective system engineers.

Communication Systems Lab: Communications System Laboratory offers an integrated approach to communications system teaching. The communication lab is well equipped with all required equipments like different kinds of modulation, laboratory experiments in AM, FM and transmission techniques (base band, band pass). The objective of this lab to develop a clear insight into the relations between the input and output ac signals in various stages of a transmitter and a receiver of AM & FM systems.

EIM LAB: The Electronics Instrumentation and Measurement laboratory in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Department has the objective to familiarize the student with the operation of basic laboratory instrumentation such as Energy meter, multimeter, frequency counter, voltmeter, Ammeter, CRO etc. Another goal is to re-enforce theoretical knowledge with practice and vice-versa, and also to learn correct laboratory procedures and techniques. This is accomplished by building, testing, and taking measurements on simple circuits. In the execution of the experiment, highest benefit is gained by students of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) if they can distinguish between performing the experiment by following step-by-step instructions, and actually understanding the reasons and the methodology behind the various parts.

Consumer Electronics Lab: The Consumer Electronics lab in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) Department has been designed as a part of the curriculum of elective subject for 8th semester ECE students. Students are exposed to the working models of basic consumer electronics equipments starting from stereo cassette player to compact disk players. Color TV demonstration kit is used for understanding the various complex phenomenon involved in the TV receiver section. Students also design various basic sub-blocks of consumer electronic equipments and try hands-on to repair small household devices.

MP & MC LAB: Microprocessor lab is catering to the needs of facilities in electronics field by training its students to make valuable contribution. This lab is used by B. tech third year students of different branches like Electronics & Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering etc. and also used B.tech third year Electronics and Communication branch. The students undergo training on the programming and also interfacing different microprocessors and micro-controllers. The facilities in the lab are 8085, 8086, 8051 trainer kits.

Microwave Lab: The microwave lab is well equipped with all required equipments like klystron power supplies, isolators directional couplers etc  klystron test benches-X Band 8.2 to 12.4 GHz, and Gunn set ups, VSWR meters ,frequency meter, Cathode ray Oscilloscope and Digital storage oscilloscope. This lab provides comprehensive knowledge of microwave frequencies, microwave devices, microwave transmission lines, microwave passive and active circuits and measurements.

ED Lab: Electronic Devices lab is catering to the needs of facilities in electronics field by training its students to make valuable contribution. This lab is used by B.tech first year students of all branches. It helps students to enhance their knowledge about various electronics equipment- both passive as well as active. Electronics is distinct from electrical and electro-mechanical science and technology, which deals with the generation, distribution, switching, storage and conversion of electrical energy to and from other energy forms using wires, motors, generators, batteries, switches, relays, transformers, resistors and other passive components. The objective of this lab is to prepare its students with good foundation in electronics field so that they become graduate and effective system engineers.

AE Lab: Analog Electronics Lab engages B.Tech students of 3rd and 4th semester. It helps students to enhance their knowledge about various electronics equipments both passive as well as active. Students are encouraged to perform basic experiments related to diodes, transistors and op-amps which aids in understanding of the circuit behavior at component level. The experiments range from realization of clippers, clampers, voltage regulators as applications of diodes to implementation of amplifiers, filters and oscillators of various types using BJTs, MOSFETs and op-amps. This lab is very essential for students to learn theoretical concept by designing circuits practically. The objective of this lab is to prepare its students with good foundation in electronics field so that they become graduate and effective system engineers.

Embedded System Lab: The Embedded Systems lab supports teaching and research in embedded systems and re-configurable hardware technology. This lab Engages 4th Year student of ECE for curriculum as well as research. In this lab student uses microcontrollers and other processors such as 8051, PIC, ARM7 etc. Software available for students are Keil, MPLAB and Proteus. Various interfacing equipments are also available such as stepper motor, LCD, LED matrix, keyboard etc.

VLSI LAB: VLSI Lab is dedicated to circuits and VLSI designing, is intended to serve its facilities as one of the teaching labs and also to facilitate teaching projects and research projects. These projects and teaching work include the experimental and innovative study in the field of analog and digital circuits, VLSI designing, microcontrollers and its applications. The aim of the lab, which is under the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, is to produce trained professionals for the industry and to achieve excellence in research using latest technology and innovative ideas for research as well. This lab has active HDL for front end designing, Xilinx for synthesis and analysis of HDL designs and Tanner Tools for back end design & analysis.

Optical & Wireless Communication Lab: The objective of Optical & Wireless Communication Lab is to help the students with the design and operating principles of modern optical communication system network. This lab engages ECE 4th year students. This lab enables students to design a simple optical communication link & to get familiar with the components used in optical communication system. This lab ha skits to understand characteristics of system components and understand the principles of Laser diodes, single and multimode fibers, light sources, detectors and amplifiers, passive optical devices, optical communication network and optical receiver etc.

Project Lab: Electronics Project Lab contains all the parts and instructions to assemble educational and fun experiments and circuits. It is used by all students of electronics department whenever they are making the projects. Students build their own knowledge by exploring amplifiers, analogue and digital circuits plus learn how to read schematic diagrams. Build a special lighting effect, radio transmitter and receivers, amazing electronic sound effects, Security Systems, GPS trackers, cool games and MORE! Hardware components in this Includes a built-in speaker, LED digital display, integrated circuits, transistors, transformers, diodes, resistors, capacitors, LEDs and lots of other components. A built-in breadboard allows easy wiring and connection of components. Students also make software based projects in which they have a good understanding of the concepts behind computer microprocessors and programming. Thus this lab gives the practical exposure to the students with real electronic world.
