EEE - Overview

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in 2004 with an initial intake of 60 students. The Department has significantly grown from its inception and the intake has been increased from 60 to 180 students.

The department is working with a vision “ To achieve unique identity as an Electrical and Electronics Department that imparts quality Technical education, Industrial consultancy and Research facilities to fulfil industrial and social needs’’.

This can be accomplished with a mission:

1. To equip students with latest technologies to improve their skills and enhance knowledge to face the global challenges.

2. To set up an innovative platform for the students using Project Based Learning (PBL).

3. Provide opportunities to interact with industry through industrial visits and Value Addition Programmes (VAPs) to face the global challenges.

The department has well qualified faculty, with Ph.D. and M. Tech degree having specialization in the field of Power System, Instrumentation and Control, Control Systems etc. In recent times, the faculty and students of the department have many publications in journals and conferences. The department laboratories are well equipped with the state-of the art equipments and experimental facilities.

Brief Profile:

Dr Auradha Tomar has done B.Tech, M.Tech. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Dr Tomar has published number of research papers in international conferences and journals. Dr. Auradha Tomar has a decade of industrial experience and has very strong practical knowledge in the field of Electrical and Electronics instruments. She has twelve years of academics and teaching experience in reputed colleges of GGSIP University. Her area of specialization includes Signals and Systems, Digital Communication, Digital Signal Processing and Power Electronics.

Electrical Machines and Drives

Laboratories EEE

The Electrical Machines Laboratory supports teaching, research and consultancy work on Electrical machines and drives. Through hands-on experiments with real machines, students gain practical experience on transformers and various types of machine drives. The laboratory can also be used for project work related to electrical machines and energy conversion.

ETEE 253 is a laboratory carrying 2 credit course designed as a supplement to the Electric Machines-I (ETEE 211) course.

The course covers practical experiment on transformers: open circuit, short circuit, and load test; unbalanced loading and parallel operation of transformers; speed control and load characteristics of shunt and series DC machines.

The main purpose of an electrical machines laboratory are:

* To provide the student with practical knowledge of handling the electrical machines.

* To correlate the theoretical classroom treatment with actual machine characteristics.

* To demonstrate the most suitable testing techniques.

* To educate engineer researchers and to conduct research in all aspects of electrical and electromechanical energy conversion. 

The laboratory has

* D.C. Motors and Generators Panels

* Single phase & 3 Phase Transformers

The Machines laboratory is supported with large capacity three phase A.C. to D.C. rectifier unit to supply D.C. power. The machines laboratory is well equipped with all kinds of measuring instruments also.

The laboratory is utilized for conducting various practical courses like DC Machines Lab and Transformers Lab. The experiments like Load test, Swinburne’s test and speed control are done on DC Motors. DC generator setup is used to conduct Open circuit and Load characteristics, opkinson’s test and generator characteristics. Open Circuit & Short Circuit Test Sumpner’s Test, Polarity test and Load test are conducted on single phase and three phase transformers.
